Are You Anchored?

I'm almost finished studying Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver. Our MOPS steering team is using this as our Bible study. It is a fantastic book, which really points you to being at the Lord's feet- in the living room like Mary, not working in the kitchen like Martha. The last bit I read on our car trip home from Colorado just smacked me in the face. Here's a quote from the book:
The secret of balancing worship and work, devotion and service, love of God and love of people is maintaining our connection to Jesus Christ. Our relationship with Him is the fulcrum, the anchor, the steadying point that makes balance possible in the first place. And the deeper that relationship goes, the more stable the balance will be.

A picture that this painted in my mind is that of being on a little boat in the midst of rocky waters (we've all been there... feeling like we're losing control). We're drifting far from where we want to be. What's a person to do? Drop your anchor. The deeper it goes, the more steady you become. Let your relationship with Jesus be your anchor in life. The deeper your relationship with God becomes, the more steady your life is. You depend on Him for your source of strength and stability. He is my anchor- Is He yours?
